The Brief
In 2024, Mooies was privately commissioned by Deer Productions, working on behalf of a Netflix feature film, to create five identical New York cheesecakes for use as on-screen props. The brief was exact: every cheesecake needed the same browning, the same finish, the same structure — indistinguishable from one another across multiple takes and shooting days. Matching browning consistently across five separate bakes is genuinely difficult to control; Roger led the development to get all five looking identical.
The Story
The first delivery happened before we'd even met Oliver, the production's Head of Props, in person. Cleared by security late one night, around 10-11pm, we were let onto the lot — and the person meant to receive the delivery had been called away suddenly. Rather than delay, Oliver trusted us over text to let ourselves into the prop department and place the cheesecakes directly into the props fridge ourselves. We walked through a working prop store for a major studio, completely unsupervised, surrounded by props from other productions in progress. That's an extraordinary level of trust to extend to two people a production has never met.
Afterwards, we visited Oliver's house directly for a later delivery, and ended up talking for a long while. It turned out he'd also worked as Head of Props on The Meg, Wicked, and No Time to Die — a genuinely serious production background, which made his trust in us mean even more.
Because the cheesecakes were a paid commission rather than a gifted product placement, Mooies won't appear in the film's credits — but Oliver confirmed we're free to say, once the film released, that our cheesecakes appear in the Shepperton Studios-filmed scenes, visible in the first 6-10 seconds of the film.
As is standard on set, the cheesecakes were eaten by cast and crew after filming wrapped, including the director. Oliver told us Adam Sandler said it tasted exactly like a New York cheesecake from home.
Our Creation
Handcrafted in our Essex atelier using our signature New York recipe: a silky cream cheese base, balanced vanilla profile, fine biscuit crumb base, finished with an even, golden top. The goal wasn't just flavour — it was exact visual and structural repeatability, so continuity never broke across a single shot.

Delivery & Set Access
Every delivery was coordinated directly with production, including after-hours studio access, timing built around the shooting schedule, and — on that first visit — full unsupervised access to place the cheesecakes into the props department's own fridge.

This commission demonstrates Mooies' ability to deliver for real film and television production, work inside confidential, high-pressure environments, hold exact product consistency across multiple shoots, and operate with a level of discretion productions are willing to trust with unsupervised set access.
The commission was led personally by Corinne Lennark and Roger Davis — the same two people behind every Mooies creation, proof that a small, hands-on atelier can meet the standards of a major global studio production.
